AVH Holds Public Demonstration at Boston Commons

Over 50 volunteers helped AVH raise awareness for the issue of abuse.  ‘Break the Silence,’ a demonstration created by AVH intern Evan Navon, took place Saturday August 9, 2008 at Boston Commons.  The demonstration aimed to bring awareness to the issue of abuse in underrepresented demographics, and more importantly, to empower victims to come forward and seek help.

Current Projects

Abuse Victim Hotline, Inc. Awareness Campaign

Apart from responding to the needs of victims through our hotline and email service, Abuse Victim Hotline is dedicated to fighting abuse via education.

Abuse is a national epidemic.  Though it is an uncomfortable topic for many people, abuse is real.  Too often, abuse goes unreported.  We, as a collective community must be aware of this issue.  We must work to reach more people and learn more about the dynamics and trends of the issue to better protect ourselves against this plaguing crisis.

We are now in the midst of our Abuse Victim Awareness Campaign.  We want to raise awareness about this unfortunate topic.  We strive to educate, empower, and heal.  We are focusing on underrepresented communities who are often ignored and uninformed concerning the issue of abuse.  We are currently focusing on: Men, Elders, Teens, LGBT and Disabled Persons.  We have literature dedicated to all of these demographics.

We are now focusing on outreach.  If you wish to join our campaign, please contact our administrative office, Awareness@avhotline.org.  If you are interested in helping us, please send us your ideas.  If you have information or personal experiences you wish to contribute, please do.  Abuse is an issue that affects the lives of all.  We must work together to make abuse an issue of the past.
